At Zikra, we don’t stop at books. We also make documentary films, too. A film offers a range of new possibilities to the process of telling your family story - the ability to add voices and music, interweave narratives and present information in a dynamic way, for example. Though a book can be powerful and affecting, a film is, by its nature, more flexible in its possibilities and less passive in its presentation. For many, film is an even more informative, attractive and engaging medium than print.

As with book production, you need to do nothing except review and approve our work at various stages. We do the rest. Our team are expert in all aspects of documentary making, from researching and filming and storyboarding, through to scripting and production. As with book production, we work with efficient diplomacy, respecting all requirements and sensitivities with all contributors.
Keeping you informed
After commissioning your book, we will discuss with you its scope and outline contents, and the family members who are to be interviewed. After this, we will provide you with a detailed schedule, showing target completion deadlines for each stage, and the points at which we will need your approval and sign-off. We will update you regularly (or at your request) on the progress of any stage.

Typically running to about 45 - 60 minutes, a Zikra film includes over 100 photos, combined with valued family and historic videos. And remember - when your book and/or film is finished, you’ll want to make it accessible to your family and friends. That's why we give you the option of making your film available through Vimeo (a web-based video-sharing service).
Total confidentiality
Our experienced team are used to working confidentially and diplomatically, and you are assured of total confidentiality at all times, from start to finish of the project. The finished item can be printed in any quantity you like (usually fixed at the beginning of the process, but it can be changed at any time), and delivered to any destinations.
